Vancouver: Ten people were injured and two others were killed on Saturday night when a woman drove a vehicle into people at a wedding ceremony in western Vancouver, police said.
According to BC Emergency Health Services, the incident occurred at 6:10 p.m.
After the incident, 11 ambulances were sent to Keith Road and an air ambulance was also sent, officials said. The EHS said ten patients were taken to the hospital. The condition of two is said to be critical, while the condition of three is critical and the condition of five is stable.
The West Vancouver Police Department said the incident took place on a joint driveway between the two properties.
The driver, a 60-year-old woman, was trying to remove the vehicle from the driveway when the accelerator was pressed from her and the vehicle hit the people. Police said the driver was also one of those taken to the hospital. She was not in police custody on Sunday.
Police said the investigation is still at an initial stage and it is yet to be said whether the woman will face any charges or not. The matter is being investigated.
