Ottawa: A tragic road accident occurred in Canada on Monday. Two people were killed and nine were injured when they were hit by a truck in the eastern Quebec town of Amqui.
Quebec police spokeswoman Helen St. Pierre said a 38-year-old man had been arrested. Police are investigating whether he deliberately ran over people in the city of Amki, north of Quebec City.
Pierre said, “It is clear from the look that this is not an ordinary incident. However, now the people of the area do not need to panic. The incident took place shortly after 3 pm in Amqui town. The condition of two of the injured remains critical.”
Witnesses told local media that a truck hit several people on the pavement, then walked 400 to 500 meters along the road, hitting people coming on the road. If this was a normal incident, the driver would have applied brakes immediately after hitting the first person, but this was seen in this incident.
