20 people, including three Punjabis, arrested in Canada for procuring drugs from US and Mexico

Toronto: More than $70 million worth of drugs have been seized in a joint operation conducted by the Niagara Regional Police, Peel Police and the Hamilton-Niagara Detachment of The Royal Canadian Mounted Police as part of the project ‘Gateway’.

A total of 20 people have been arrested in connection with the case.

A large quantity of cocaine, illegal cannabis, weapons, stolen vehicles and cash were also recovered during the 10-month-long operation by the police.

Drugs and illegal goods were brought to Canada from Mexico and the United States by commercial trucks and other means.

Three Punjabis are among the 20 alleged accused arrested by the police, including Harpal Bhangu (42) and Mehakdeep Mann (24) from Brampton and Raghbir Shergill (42) from Milton.
