Chandigarh: Even after changing the Chief Minister in Punjab, it seems that the infighting in the Congress is still persisting with former PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar has objected to Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Rawat’s statement just a few hours before swear in ceremony of the new Congress CM.
Resentment was comprehensible in Jakhar’s message which he posted on his official twitter handle on Monday morning as he wrote, “On the swearing-in day of Sh @Charnjit_channi as Chief Minister, Mr Rawats’s statement that “elections will be fought under Sidhu”, is baffling. It’s likely to undermine CM’s authority but also negate the very ‘raison d’être’ of his selection for this position.”
After Captain Amarinder Singh had resigned from his post on Saturday, there were reports that party high command chose Jakhar as Captain’s successor.
However, after spree of meetings and feedback from party workers, Congress party named Charanjit Singh Channi as the first Dalit CM of Punjab.
He will take oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab on September 20, 2021 at Punjab Raj Bhawan at 11am.
