Ottawa: As many as 40 Punjabi candidates are in the fray of upcoming Municipal election in Brampton city of Ontario. The poll is scheduled for October 24.
Among the candidates, Bob Singh, Nikki Kaur and Prabh Kaur Mand are in direct contest for the post of mayor.
Of the 11 candidates, nine candidates of Punjab origin are in fray from the ward Number 9 and 10.
These include Manpreet Othi, Jagdish Singh Grewal, Harkirat Singh and Mahendra Gupta for the city council; Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, Aneep Dhade, Gagan Lal, Gurpratap Singh Toor and Azad Singh for the regional council.
Likewise, Yadwinder Gossal, Taranvir Dhaliwal, Satpaul Singh Johal and Robbie Bassi are in fray for the post of Trustee, Peel District School Board from ward Nos. 9 and 10,
From ward Nos 1 and 5, Kapil Om Parkash and Harshmeet Dhillon are in a fight for the city council and Seema Passi is contesting for the regional council while Shajinder Padda and Harparminderjit Singh Gadri are contesting for the Trustee, Peel District School Board.
Candidate Hardip Singh and Navjit Kaur Brarare contesting for the city council from ward Nos. 2 and 6 and and Gurpreet Singh Pabla and Babita Gupta contesting for regional council. Similarly, Nirpal Sekhon is tring his luckfor the post of Trustee, Peel District School Board.
Jasmohan Singh Mankoo and Tejeshwar Soin inward Nos. 3 and 4, contesting for the city council. Candidate Ameek Singh is contesting for the regional council. Ranjit Singh Dhaliwal for the post of Trustee, Peel District School Board.
From ward Nos. 7 and 8, Daminder Ghumman, Jaskaran Sandhu, Baljit Bawa, Kuljit Singh Batra, and Gagan Sandhu are contesting for the city council.
Gurinder Sehgal and Ripudaman Singh Dhillon are in the contest for the regional council. Pardeep Kaur Sanghera, Pushproop Brar, and Envel Singh Sumbal are in fray for the Trustee, Peel District School Board.
