Chandigarh: The search operation at the houses, offices and factories of three Income Tax businessmen Sheetal Vij, Chander Aggarwal and liquor baron Pawan Kapoor in Punjab’s Jalandhar ended late in the evening on the fourth day.
Late on the Sunday night, income tax department teams returned to the security of central forces. However, the team from Jammu and Kashmir stayed at a private hotel at night. The team departed for its destination in the morning.
The search operation conducted by the Income Tax Department teams in Jalandhar was scheduled to be completed in three days, but the search for the recovered goods and the statement of the businessmen whose houses were searched in offices, factories dragged on for one more day and on the fourth day, the teams were able to be free late at night, sources in the IT department said.
Meanwhile, departmental sources have also revealed that despite conducting a search operation for four days, the Income Tax Department has not made any huge recovery from the businessmen.
Sources said the businessmen had confirmed their work and their chartered accountants were also involved during the search. He has shown the records of each and every thing to the income tax teams.
The income tax department teams did not find any major discrepancy in the registers of sale purchases, accounts and income tax returns that were also filled.
