4 killed including a Punjabi, more than 50 hospitalised in British Columbia bus crash

British Columbia: Four people were killed and dozens more injured when a bus overturned on a “very snowy” highway in British Columbia on Christmas Eve.

In this accident, a youth from Punjab was also died. The bus crashed around 6 p.m. local time on Highway 97C east of Merritt, about 170 miles northeast of Vancouver.

It is being told that Karanjot Singh alias Vicky (42), a resident of Patti Rajpura of village Batala of Tehsil Baba Bakala Sahib, who came to Canada on a work permit four months ago, has died.

The deceased is survived by his wife Navjit Kaur (38) and children Sahibjit Singh (8) and Hargun Kaur (3). There is a wave of mourning in the entire village. There were more than 50 people in the bus, some of whom are said to be in critical condition.

The identity of the rest of the deceased is yet to be released. The police investigation is underway.
