Eagle Pass (Texas): The bodies of at least eight refugees have been found in Rio Grande who tried to cross the most dangerous border on Eagle Pass in the US state of Texas.
The bodies were found on Thursday by US Customs and Border Defense (CBP) and Mexican authorities.
A large group of people tried to cross the river passing through the area after heavy rains.
According to a CBP statement, US authorities found six bodies, while Mexican teams recovered two more bodies. U.S. authorities evacuated 37 more people from the river and detained 16 refugees, while Mexican authorities detained 39 refugees. The CBP did not say which country the refugees belonged to and gave no further details about the rescue and search operation.
