Washington: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has approved the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for all children ages 5 through 11, which clears way for shots for million of children.

The CDC Director Rochelle Wolensky comes after careful consideration from US drug regulators on Tuesday after CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices supporting the use of the vaccine for children in this age group.

There are over 28 million children ages 5 through 11 will be eligible for the shots and the drive will be commenced soon to administer vaccine to them.

President Biden issued a statement calling the decision “a turning point in our battle against COVID-19,” and said the federal government has purchased enough of the low-dose children’s vaccine “for every child in America.”
