SIT to quiz Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram in Sacrilege case

Chandigarh: A SIT of Punjab police reached Sunaria jail in Haryana’s Rohtak on Monday to interrogate Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in connection with a 2015 sacrilege case.

Dera head has been in jail since his conviction in 2017 for raping two of his disciples.

He was named as accused in the theft of a “bir” of the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of Sikhs.

Punjab government formed a four-member SIT led by Inspector General SPS Parmar and Senior Superintendent of Police M S Bhullar, Deputy Superintendent of Police Lakhvir Singh and Inspector Dalbir Singh reached Sunaria jail.

“It is a process of investigation and it is on its final stage, therefore, recording statement s of Gurmeet Ram Rahim was vital in this case,” he told the reporters. ”

He said it would depend on whether he cooperates or not and “whether his replies are proper or not” while answering on a query that how much time will the SIT quiz him in the jail.

He said the SIT has prepared a list of questions for Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
