Gatherings capped at 50 persons in Maharashtra as coronavirus cases surge

Mumbai: Following a surge in coronavirus cases, the Maharashtra Government has capped the attendance at gatherings in open or closed spaces at 50.

Earlier, not over 100 people in enclosed and 250 in open spaces were allowed to attend a marriage function or any political, religious or social event.

However, according to the fresh directions issued by the state government on Thursday night, capped the number of attendees at these events to 50.

The authorities also order that only 20 people can attend last rites.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra recorded 5,368 coronavirus cases on Thursday, a spike of 1,468 cases from a day before. This led the state’s Covid tally to 66,70,754.
