Elections in five states: No roadshow, rally for now, ECI to review situation on Jan 15

New Delhi: In an unprecedented move, the Election Commission on Saturday banned holding public rally, road show and any other physical procession ahead of polls in five states of the country amid Covid-19 pandemic.

Addressing a press conference here, CEC Sushil Chandra announced the elections for the upcoming assembly elections in five states, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Manipur.

He noted that No political rally, no roadshow, no physical rallies will be allowed till January 15 in the wake of the COVID-19 surge and said that further situation would be reviewed by the ECI.
