New Delhi: China has claimed that it traced back the first Omicron variant to an international document received from Canada in their country.

According to the Beijing health authorities, people must reduce purchasing commodities overseas amid the pandemic.

Beijing had detected one case of Omicron variant of the virus and later said that it was found to have similar strains from those in North America and Singapore, which was detected on the outer package, internal surface and papers of the mail sent from Canada on January 7 by authorities.

Responding to reports, Canada’s health minister Jean-Yves Duclos said that it is not in accordance with what we have done both internationally and domestically.
