‘King of Disco’ Bappi Lahiri dies at 69

Chandigarh: Famous singer and composer Bappi Lahiri, who popularised disco music in Indian cinema, died following multiple health issues. He was 69 and died on Tuesday night at a private hospital in Juhu.

In September last year, he had categorically rubbished reports that he had lost his voice and called the rumours disheartening.
Meanwhile, fans and prominent personalities including Prime Minister Narendra Modi condolences his death. Modi wrote on Twitter, “Shri Bappi Lahiri Ji’s music was all encompassing, beautifully expressing diverse emotions. People across generations could relate to his works. His lively nature will be missed by everyone. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
