AMRITSAR: As many as 1949 Sikhs pilgrims have crossed the Pakistan border via Attari-Wagah border to celebrate Baisakhi.
The day is also observed as the Khalsa Foundation Day.
SGPC members led the Jatha and they honoured the pilgrims with “siropas” (robe of honour) at the Golden Temple before their departure to Pakistan.
After crossing the border, Jatha has been received by the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) president Ameer Singh and other members to take them to Gurudwara Sahib.
Meanwhile, pilgrims will stay till 20 April in Pakistan and will return on April 21 after visiting various other historic gurdwaras.
