Eluru: At least six persons died and 12 sustained burn injuries after a fire accident in a chemical factory in Akkireddygudem in the district on Thursday.
Superintendent of Police, Eluru said that injured were admitted to government hospital in Vijayawada.
Preliminary investigation indicates that fire broke out on Wednesday late night and investigation is underway to ascertain the extract reason.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy expressed shock and announced Rs 25 lakh compensation to next kin of the deceased and Rs 5 lakh each to the critically injured.
