Direct flight plan between Canada-Amritsar gets another push

AMRITSAR: In yet another push for direct flights between Amritsar and Canada, Punjab-origin Canadian MP Ruby Sahota is took up the issue in the Canadian parliament recently.

In a joint statement, Anantdeep Singh Dhillon, convener North America-Canada, Sameep Singh Gumtala (USA), global convener, and Mohit Dhanju, spokesperson-Canada of the FlyAmritsar Initiative thanked Canadian MP Sahota and said that they are now hopeful that Air Canada or Air India will soon start the direct flights from Canada to Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport in Amritsar in the near future.

Earlier, Canadian Member of Parliament (MP) Brad Vis also sponsored a petition in the House of Commons to push for direct flights from Vancouver and Toronto to Amritsar.
