US to investigate allegations of removing Sikh turbans at border with Mexico

Washington: US officials said that they are investing the allegations of confiscating turbos of Sikhs detained at the border with Mexico.

According to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the turbans of 50 Sikhs have been removed.

According to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data, 13,000 Indian nationals, many from Punjab, have been detained by Border Patrol officials on the US-Mexico border in the financial year beginning October 2021.

In a letter sent to CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus recently, it called seizures of turbans serious religious freedom violations.
