Baltimore: A ship full of plywood sheets, aluminum rods and radioactive materials from Russian fields, forests and factories has arrived at the port of Baltimore.

Although six months ago President Joe Biden imposed a trade ban on goods such as vodka, diamonds and gasoline with the intention of demolishing Vladimir Putin in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, hundreds of other types of unapproved goods worth billions of dollars are constantly moving from St. Petersburg in Russia to other US ports, including Baltimore.

About 3,600 ships loaded with wood, metal, rubber and other items have arrived at U.S. ports from Russian ports since the start of the war, The Associated Press reported.

“When we impose sanctions, it could disrupt world trade,” said Rajdut Jim O’Breen of the State Department’s Sanctions Coordination Office. So our job is to think about which sanctions have the most impact, while also allowing world trade to function.
