Neeraj Chopra scripts history after Olympics, becomes first Indian to win final of Diamond League

New Delhi: India’s star javelin thrower and Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has created another history by winning the final title of Diamond League 2022.

He won the title by throwing a best throw of 88.44 meters in the final. This is the first time that the Diamond League title has been named after an Indian player.

Neeraj also reached the finals of the Diamond League in 2017 and 2018. He finished seventh and fourth respectively, but this time Neeraj Chopra has created history and won this prestigious title.

 

Won the title with a throw of 88.44m

In the final of the Diamond League 2022 held in Zurich, Neeraj started poorly, olympic gold in 2021, Asian Games gold in 2018, Commonwealth Games gold in 2018, world athletics championship silver medal in 2022. His first throw was a foul. However, he made history in his second throw, throwing the javelin 88.44 meters away to take the lead over all the players. None of the players could beat this distance.

Neeraj then threw 88.00m in his third attempt, 86.11m in the fourth, 87.00m in the fifth and 83.60m in the sixth attempt.

 

Neeraj was followed by Czech Republic’s Jacob Wadlett with a best throw of 86.94m and Germany’s Julian Weber with a best throw of 83.73m.

Neeraj Chopra has won Olympic gold for India in 2021, Asian Games gold in 2018, Commonwealth Games gold in 2018, World Athletics Championships silver medal in 2022. He had told many times that winning his Diamond League was a dream. Neeraj has also fulfilled his dream by capturing this title.
