10 arrested for death due to ‘mousambi juice’ instead of blood platelets in Prayagraj

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested 10 accused in connection with the sale of fake blood platelets in Prayagraj.

In Prayagraj, a dengue patient was allegedly given mousambi juice instead of platelet. However, the police said that the allegations of Mousambi’s juice have not been proved yet. The arrested accused were selling blood plasma as platelets.

SSP Prayagraj has said that the arrested accused have been questioned whether the gang of Prayagraj was also giving mousambi juice as platelets. One of the accused said that this was not happening, but blood plasma was being given by the gang as platelets.

The SSP said the inquiry report into the alleged mousambi juice being described as platelets is still awaited.

This sensational case is related to Jhalawa area of Prayagraj. Pradeep Kumar Pandey was admitted to a private hospital for treatment as he was suffering from dengue. It is alleged that it was here that the patient was given mousambi juice instead of platelets, which led to his death.

After the matter came to social media, the administration has sealed the hospital. Police said the accused were taking plasma from blood banks and repacking it as platelets.

Senior Superintendent of Police Shailesh Kumar Pandey told reporters that based on information received from the informer, police arrested 10 people for supplying fake platelets.

Police have recovered several pouches of platelets from them. Interrogation of the arrested persons revealed that these people used to take plasma from the blood bank and put it in different pouches and sell it to the needy people by putting fake stickers of platelets on the pouch, he said.
