Chandigarh: A day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal demanded that pictures of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi be printed on currency notes, Congress MP Manish Tewari today asked why the portrait of Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution, should not be printed on the new notes.

Tewari, a Congress Lok Sabha member from Anandpur Sahib, tweeted, “Why shouldn’t the new series of currency notes have a picture of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on it? A picture of Mahatma Gandhi on one side and a portrait of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on the other.”
