Petrol pump guard shoots dead robber near Jandiala

Chandigarh: A day after robbery of Rs 80,000 by the robbers at the Mallian petrol pump near Jandiala Guru the today again the robbers carried out the robbery at the same petrol pump, but this time one of the two robbers fell victim to the bullet of the guard and died on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as Amarjit Singh, a resident of village Darapur under Khadoor Sahib police station in Tarn Taran district.

“At around 9.15 pm, two robbers came to the petrol pump on a motorcycle to rob and started snatching money from the cashier at gunpoint when other customers came to the petrol pump. The robbers also started snatching money from them and on this occasion, the guard shot dead one of the robbers and the other fled from the spot,” petrol pump workers told the police.

DSP Gurmeet Singh said that there was a robbery at this petrol pump in the past, so the guard was alerted and today due to the bravery of the guard, the loot from the pump has been saved. The robber died and a pistol and some bullets have also been recovered from him and the police are investigating, he said.
