Lahore: Pakistan’s Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has suspended a police officer and other police personnel for making public the confessional statement of the suspected attacker after the attack on former prime minister Imran Khan. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan is out of danger. He was shot in the leg.
One person was killed in the attack and Imran’s party has claimed that it was an attempt to murder. The station house officer (SHO) and other officials of the concerned police station were suspended after the confessional statement was leaked.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Ministry has asked the Punjab government to set up a high-level Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate the facts of the attempted assassination of former prime minister Imran Khan.
