80 liquor vends of AS & Co sealed in Punjab by NCB

Chandigarh: A team of National Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) sealed about 80 liquor vends of AS & Company on Friday in Punjab. The company had a 25 per cent stake in the business of drug peddling mastermind Akshay Chhabra.

It is being said that Akshya Chhabra is investing money earned from drug trafficking in the liquor business.

The NCB team, which arrived in Ludhiana from Chandigarh in the early hours of Friday, sealed the contracts of this group. Akshya Chhabra was arrested by the police while fleeing from Jaipur International Airport. Akshay Chhabra and his associate Sandeep Singh are residents of Janata Nagar. Akshya Chhabra is the son of a big liquor business.

Along with the house of drug smuggler Chhabra, he had also bought several plots.

The accused has built a big farm house to spend free time. Chhabra has also bought many luxury cars with drug money. At the same time, Akshay has 100 per cent hold of the accused in Fortis Group, Gill Group and Dholewal Group district Ludhiana.

On November 15, 2022, the NCB received a tip-off in Ludhiana that Sandeep Singh alias Deepu smuggled heroin on a large scale. The accused was arrested by the team from Jagdish Nagar flyover with 20.326 kg heroin.

The team had recovered foreign drug money and other items including intoxicating powder from the accused. Sandeep had revealed the name of liquor businessman Akshay Chhabra during interrogation. Both Akshya Chhabra and his associate Gaurav Gora alias Ajay were arrested by the team from Jaipur airport on November 24, 2022.

Both the accused were preparing to escape to Sharjah. The accused were supposed to supply 1400 kg of heroin under three prime routes in which currency port Gujara, ICP Attari Punjab and 250 kg heroin were to be sent to Jammu and Kashmir. After this action, there has been a stir among other liquor traders.
