New Delhi: A major plane crash was averted due to the negligence of air traffic staff in Nepal. According to the information received, the aircraft of Air India and Nepal Airlines came very close to each other. Had the pilots of both the aircraft not taken precautions in time, the two aircraft could have collided with each other.

In view of this negligence of the air traffic employee, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has suspended the three employees, a CAAN spokesman said. He said that they are also investigating this whole matter at the moment.

According to the information received, the incident took place on Friday morning. The Nepal Airlines Airbus A-320 aircraft was flying from Kuala Lumpur to Kathmandu and the Air India flight was flying from New Delhi to Kathmandu.

The Air India plane was landing at an altitude of 19,000 feet while the Nepal Airlines plane was flying at 15,000 feet at that time.

After this, it was seen on the radar that the two aircraft have come very close. After this, the Nepal Airlines aircraft was immediately brought to an altitude of 7 thousand feet.

Significantly, this is not the first such case. A similar incident was reported in Bengaluru a few years ago. During that time, two IndiGo aircraft escaped unhurt after colliding with each other.

There were about 330 passengers on board both the planes. Aviation sources had said that authorities have set up an inquiry to ascertain the cause of the incident.

The aircraft involved in the incident were on the Coimbatore-Hyderabad and Bengaluru-Cochin routes.
