New Delhi: India pacer Mohammed Siraj informed the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) that he was contacted by an unidentified person to get inside information about the team ahead of the tour of Australia in February this year.
Siraj, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, informed the BCCI’s ACU about this. The bookie lost a lot of money during India’s matches and sent a message to Siraj in frustration.
A source in the board said, “The person who contacted Siraj was not a fixer. He was a driver from Hyderabad who was used to betting on matches. A lot of his money had sunk. So he contacted Siraj on WhatsApp for inside information. Andhra Police have arrested the man.”
