Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has exchanged two assembly seats with its alliance partner Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Punjab here on Wednesday.
Disclosing this information, former minister and senior SAD leader Daljit Singh Cheema said that SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal announced that it has taken Amritsar North & Sujanpur seats back from BSP. In place BSP has been given Sham Chaurasi and Kapurthala assembly seats.
Akali Dal gave 20 seats including eight in Doaba, seven in Malwa and five in Majha to BSP. Akali Dal and BSP announced the electoral tie-up for the 2022 Punjab assembly polls in May this year after striking a deal to contest 97 and 20 seats, respectively.
