MONTREAL: Millions of voters will come to voting booths today amid Covid-19 pandemic to select Canada’s new Prime Minister on Monday.

The poll surveys, however, indicate that Liberals of PM Justin Trudeau hold an edge in the election. Trudeau called the vote two years early with an aim to regain the majority in parliament, which he lost in 2019. He first took power in 2015.

The polls surveys are indicating that the Liberals of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hold an edge in the election and likely to form a minority government again.

Polls show that neither the Liberals nor their rival right-leaning Conservatives have anywhere near the 38% public support needed for a majority. Therefore, Trudeau might again form a minority government in Canada.

Meanwhile, around 5.7 million people have voted at advance polls and many had voted by mail, Elections Canada is still expecting that a significant turnout of voters on September 20.
