AAP leader named in Rs 24.68 lakh fraud case

Amritsar: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kunal Dhawan seems to be in trouble as the Police have named him in the Rs 24.68 lakh fraud case. Ferozepur City Police Station police have registered a case of cheating and forgery against parachuter leader Kunal Dhawan of Amritsar Constituency (East) and his three accomplices.

In 2020, the accused had struck a deal with arhtiya Harnam Singh and his associates to give peas worth Rs 31.68 lakh to the party in Delhi.

AAP leader Kunal Dhawan has paid Rs 7 lakh after this, he also stopped taking the phone of the arhtiyas. A few days ago, the Ferozepur police station had booked Kunal Dhawan, Rajiv Kumar, a resident of Vasant Kunj in Delhi and a resident of Basant Avenue in Delhi, Sarkad Ahmed, a resident of Gurgaon in Haryana, Rewa Shankar, a resident of Mohan Nagar in UP, in the FIR.

Harnam Singh told the police that he is an arhtiya in the market of Ferozepur and deals in various types of vegetables. On March 15, 2020, Kunal Dhawan, a resident of Vasant Kunj in Delhi, came to him along with his associate Rajiv Saini and asked him to make a deal to send a large quantity of peas to Delhi.

The accused demanded eight vehicles of peas. The complainant said that they had loaded 290, 400, 369, 426, 508, 114 and 424 bags in trucks at different times. In lieu of this, the accused had to pay a total of Rs 31 lakh. On repeated demands of the complainant, the accused paid a total of Rs 7 lakh and later stopped attending his calls.

According to the FIR, AAP leader Kunal Dhawan and three of his associates were summoned on June 29, 2022, July 11, July 19 and August 4 to appear before the investigating officer in connection with the complaint, but the accused did not turn up.
