Chandigarh: Cardiologist Dr. Gurpreet Singh Wander has withdrawn his name for the post of Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. Notably, Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit had objected to Punjab government’s move of only sending Wander’s name for the post and he sought a panel of three names for the post.

Meanwhile, the governor has asked the government to send the names of three candidates in which the vice-chancellor can be selected. Following this, cardiologist Wander has decided to withdraw his name.

Wander has confirmed that he has withdrawn his name and appealed to the government not to include him in the list of three names to be sent to the governor for the election of vice-chancellor.

At present, Dr. Wander is serving as vice principal in DMC Ludhiana.

Earlier, opposition has attacked the AAP chief minister Bhagwant Mann for bypassing the norms and announcing Wander as VC without taking formal approval from the governor as per the law.
