Air India begins direct flight from Amritsar to UK’s Gatwick

New Delhi: A direct flight from Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport here to London Gatwick Airport in England has been started today. The flight was flagged off virtually by Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

BJP leader Tarun Chugh, who was present with the Union minister in Delhi, said air india will soon start a direct flight from Amritsar to Canada.

He urged the Aviation Minister to include Amritsar in the agreement with international airlines to start more flights from Amritsar airport. Stupendous funds have been spent by the government for the expansion of this airport and at present all the facilities of international airports are available at the international airport here.

At present, it has the capacity to raise 24 aircraft. According to the details received, this flight was previously connected to London’s Heathrow Airport, which is now connected to Gatwick Airport.

Union Minister of State Som Parkash, BJP leader Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, airport director, airline officials and leaders of Amritsar Vikas Manch were present when the flight was launched.
