SBS Nagar: Sounding the bugle for the 2022 Punjab elections, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday launched fierce attack on former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal for allegedly playing double game on the three-farm bills, which were passed by BJP-led government in parliament last year.
Captain said that SAD as an alliance party of BJP, first endorsed the three farm ordinances and later they took a u-turn under pressure from Punjab people ahead of polls, he said while addressing a function after laying the foundation stone of the first college of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) at Ballowal village in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district.
CM said that these farm laws were made in agreement of SAD as Bathinda MP and wife of SAD chief Harsimrat Kaur Badal was a part of the cabinet that passed the ordinances. Even former CM Badal had also posted a video endorsing these bills.
He said that Akali Dal has abandoned the interest of farmers when its support was needed the most but they extended their support to farm bills.
” Centre should repeal the three farm laws by amending the Constitution as the legislation was unacceptable to farmers and must accept the demands of farmers immediately,” Captain said.
