New Delhi: The mortal remains of 7 Army soldiers killed during an avalanche in Arunachal Pradesh on February 6, have arrived at their respective hometowns on Saturday.
According to the information, the soldiers hailed from Kathua, Akhnoor and Khour in Jammu and Kashmir; Batala and Dhar Kalan in Punjab and Baijnath, Ghumarwin in Himachal Pradesh.
“Paid my last respects to Riflemen Arun Katal, 18JAKRIF, son of the soil from district #Kathua who got martyred in an unfortunate avalanche in Arunachal Pradesh. Eternally indebted and humbled by his supreme sacrifice!,” Union minister Jitendra Singh said.
Bodies were flown in plane after a wreath-laying ceremony at Tezpur Air Force Station in Assam.
The soldiers were part of a patrol team when the struck in an avalanche in Kameng sector of Arunachal Pradesh.
