New Delhi: Amid protests in many parts of the country over the Agnipath scheme for army recruitment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said many decisions may seem unfair at first but later they help in nation building later.
“Many decisions seem unfair at present but they will be instrumental in the construction of the country,” he said, though he made no direct reference to the Agnipath scheme.
It is worth mentioning that some organisations have called for a Bharat Bandh today to protest against the Agneepath scheme for recruitment in the Army. Due to the protests, the railways had to cancel more than 500 trains. Since the announcement of the Agnipath scheme, the arson and vandalism so far have caused a lot of damage to the country’s property. Amid the ongoing opposition to the scheme, the Ministry of Home Affairs has also announced to reserve 10 per cent jobs in the Central Armed Police Force and Assam Rifles for agniveers.
Agniveers in CAPFs and Assam Rifles have been given a relaxation of three years in the age limit. It is believed that this move will also make it easier to give jobs to the firemen in the paramilitary forces. The Indian Navy will provide employment opportunities in the Merchant Navy for the firemen. For this, the ship has also included six service routes by the Queen’s Ministry.
