Amid shortage, Amritsar bans use of fodder in factories, put ban on transportation to other states

Chandigarh: The Amritsar district has banned the use of dry fodder made of straw of wheat, paddy, mustard as fuel in factories in view of the shortage of fodder for animals.

The district magistrate has also imposed a ban on transporting dry fodder made of straw out of Punjab in view of fodder crisis.

In an order, Deputy Commissioner Harpreet Singh Sudan said that it has come to my notice that due to shortage of straw in Punjab, dairy farmers are facing a lot of difficulties to arrange fodder for cattle and instead of the fuel that should be consumed even in the big factories and boilers, most of the use dry fodder straw as is fuel.

In view of the above situation, DC, exercising his magistrate powers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, Sudan, imposed a blanket ban on the transportation of straw to other states outside the Punjab and the use of straw as fuel in large factories and boilers.
