Chandigarh: Punjab government, headed by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, on Thursday has appointed Anirudh Tiwari as the new Chief Secretary of the state after replacing Vini Mahajan.
Mahajan had been serving as CS since June last year, and was handpicked by former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
Presently, he was serving as Additional Chief Secretary, Development.
There were three other officers names in the list for the post including Ravneet Kaur, Sanjay Kumar and VK Singh as contenders but government finalised, Tiwari, who is junior to them and is a 1990 batch officer.
