Arrested AltNews co-founder Mohammed Zubair’s post was ‘highly provocative’: Police

New Delhi: Fact-chacker and Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair was arrested by Delhi Police on Monday for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. The Delhi Police’s First Information Report (FIR) said the tweet on which the fact-checking website’s co-founder Mohammed Zubair was arrested last night contained words and images that were “highly provocative and more than enough to incite a sense of hatred” among the people.

The FIR has been lodged on the complaint of the duty officer present in the IFSO unit of the Special Cell of the Delhi Police. The FIR was filed on June 20. According to the duty officer, he was monitoring when he saw that a Hanuman devotee whose Twitter ID @balajikijai had shared a tweet of Mohammad Zuber. In which there were objectionable things.

Zubair’s account tweeted that photos of the honeymoon hotel before 2014 and the sign board of the Hanuman Hotel and Hotel after 2014 were also put up in which the honeymoon hotel was shown in the Hanuman Hotel photo.

The devotee@balajikijai Twitter ID shared that hindus have been insulted by comparing Hanuman ji to the word honeymoon, he is a brahmachari. Such tweets were found to be hate-mongering in the society, on which the police registered an FIR under IPC 153A and 295 against Zubair and he was arrested.
