Chandigarh: Despite his old age and nail biting cold, former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal (94) has started door-to-door campaigning at his home turf Lambi to canvas the voters.

He is the oldest active politician of the Punjab to campaign for his party.

The Akali Dal is lagging behind the scenes in this multi contest poll this time as Aam Aadmi Party and Congress is in a neck to neck competition.

The stalwart leader has to come on the field as he has not only a strong hold in the constituency but across the state to make the party’s position stronger in the upcoming Punjab Assembly polls.

He has been holding regular meetings before enforcement of code and already cover around 40 villages in Lambi constituency.

Badal on Thursday spent nearly four hours at Mann village.

Meanwhile, Badal had contested his first Assembly poll from Malout on Congress ticket in 1957. He first became CM in 1970.
