Chandigarh: The thumping victory of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the state assembly will also pave way for its entery in the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls from Punjab. The elections slated to be held on March 31.
Following this, AAP to have its first presence in Uppar House till 2028.
Any political party will require a minimum of 18 MLAs in the ssembly to secure a single seat and Congress, SAD or BJP couldn’t perform well and AAP is expected to sweep all the seats in Rajya Sabha.
Punjab has 7 seats in Uppar House and five seats will vacant including Congress’s Partap Singh Bajwa, Shamsher Singh Dullo and BJP’s Shwait Malik, SAD’s Naresh Gujral, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa now in SAD Sanyukt.
While term of two leaders including SAD’S Balwinder Singh Bhundar and
Ambika Soni (Congress) to come to an end on July 4.
Currently, only three AAP members, Sanjay Singh, Sushil Kumar and Narain Dass Gupta are Rajya Sabha members.
