Washington: Four Democratic Senators have introduced a bill in the US Congress with the intention of providing green cards to eight million people. If the bill is passed, dreamers, H-1B and long-term visa holders will benefit from it.

Under the bill, any immigrant who has been living in the US for seven consecutive years will be eligible for legally permanent citizenship.

Senator Alex Padilla introduced the bill to renew the provisions of the Immigration Act, which was endorsed by Senators Elizabeth Warren, Ben Ray Lujan and Dick Durbin.

Padilla said that the immigration system has become outdated, which is hurting countless people, due to which the Us economy is also collapsing. “My bill will update the registry cut-off date after 35 years so that more and more migrants can legally apply for permanent residency.”
