BJP won’t return to power if farmers’ demands not met, says Meghalaya Governor

New Delhi: Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik on Monday urged the Union government to meet the demands of agitating farmers and said that if their demands are not met the party would not return to power.

While speaking to local reporters Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district, he said, “BJP leaders cannot enter the villages of election bound Uttar Pradesh. I am from Meerut and in my area, no BJP leader can enter any village. Similarly, Muzzafarnagar, in Baghpat, they can’t enter due to farmers protest,” he told reporters.

When questioned that weather he will relinquish his post to stand with farmers, he said, “I am standing with farmers and there is no need to relinquish my post at present but I will do that too if needed.”

Malik, a Jat leader from wester UP said that he has fought many previous elections over the issue of farmers’ and repealing of three-farm laws is a crucial issue. He said that he had raised this matter before the Prime Minister, Home Minister, everyone and even quarrelled with over the issue.

“I have told them that they are doing wrong and if the issue has not been resolved with farmers including giving legally guarantees MSP, it will cost them the elections. they don’t know about Sikhs…Unarmed gurus fought with the Mughal emperor. So they should not be bothered.” He said, while talking to Reporters.
