Ottawa: US President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Canada for the first time on Thursday evening. His formal visit was long awaited.
During his stay in Ottawa, Biden will meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as well as address parliament on Friday.
But Joe Biden, along with First Lady Jill Biden, will participate in a number of other events in Canada, where important issues for Canada and the United States will be discussed and shared priorities will be discussed. Preparations are underway on a war footing to welcome Biden and his staff.
Biden is scheduled to arrive in Ottawa with his delegation on Air Force One at 6:25 p.m. on Thursday. Governor General Mary Simons, Canadian Ambassador to the US Kirsten Hillman, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, Treasury Board President Mona Furtier, Foreign Minister Mileni Jolie, Parliamentary Secretaries of Foreign Affairs, Liberal MPs Rob Oliphant and Maninder Sidhu will be present on the occasion.
Biden will then be taken to Ridu Cottage for a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau. Biden’s day on Friday will be mostly spent on Parliament Hill. During the visit, the two countries will discuss the following issues:
· Related Costs on North American Continental and Arctic Defense
· Trade, Supply Chain, and Status of CUSMA/USMCA
Safe Third Country Agreements on Irregular Migration
· Investments in the Clean Automotive Sector on Climate Change
· To curb inflation and create employment opportunities
· Threats to democracy such as domestic and foreign interference
· About further help for Ukraine
