London: Indian-origin Rishi Sunak is considered to be at the forefront of the race for the post of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, acting Prime Minister Boris Johnson has opened a front against him.
According to reports, Johnson even told his colleagues on Friday that “support anyone, but not Sunak”.
Johnson of the ruling Conservative Party resigned as prime minister on July 7. Now the process of electing the leader in his place is going on.
In the two rounds of voting, Sunak has a lead. On Thursday, he secured the most 101 votes in the second round of voting. Along with him, four more candidates are left in the race for the post of PM. In the second round of voting, Indian-origin Attorney General Suela Braverman got the least number of 27 votes and he’s out of this race.
