OTTAWA: Canada’s Foreign minister Melanie Joly announced that she tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing a rapid test.
She shared this news on the twitter and said, “I’m grateful for the protection that vaccines offer us and encourage everyone to get vaccinated and boosted. It’s the best thing we can do to keep our families safe this holiday season and all year long,” the 42-year-old added.
Her announcement came as 10,621 new infections were reported in the country, potentially tied to the new fast-spreading Omicron variant.
The government has already announced to strengthen the norms including restrictions on travel amid rise in coronavirus cases.
