Ottawa: Considering that young Canadian students aged 18-24 hit hard with a profound impact on their mental health and well-being post-secondary, government has decided to provide financial assistance to them.
Government said that since start of the Covid-19 pandemic, over half of Canadians 61% young students say their mental health has declined.
Jenica Atwin, Member of Parliament for Fredericton, announced that an investment of $2 million for a three-year Campus Peer Support pilot project to support post-secondary students during this challenging time.
The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) is supporting the initiative and this pilot program will be implemented on five Canadian campuses, in partnership with local CMHA offices, Canadian officials said.
