Canada proclaims April 14 as Dr BR Ambedkar Equality Day

Washington: On the occasion of anniversary of Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, a blue flag was hoisted at the City Council Hall in the US city of Jersey in the presence of US officials and a representative of the Indian Embassy.

Similarly, Canada’s British Columbia province also declared April as Dalit History Month. The BJP, the world’s largest party, is observing ‘Social Justice Week’ from its foundation day ‘April 6’ to April 14, Babasaheb’s birth anniversary. Programmes have also been organised in several cities, including Nagpur.

Babasaheb Ambedkar had once said that wherever Hindus go, they take their caste along. Now there is talk of making laws against caste discrimination in Britain and America. In such a situation, you can imagine how visionary he was. Ambedkar has emerged as a leader with an unopposed legacy. In such a situation, their influence is constantly increasing abroad. Ambedkar’s ideas have been internationalised.
