Canada Revenue Agency to launch automated tax filing system from next year

Ottawa: The Canada Revenue Agency will launch a new automated system for filing taxes from next year. The introduction of this system will be of great help to Canadians who have not been able to file their taxes and get benefits.

In the federal budget presented this week, it has been said that the Canada Revenue Agency will present a plan in 2024 to increase services. Prior to this, the agency will consult stakeholders and community organizations. Automatic tax filing was first promised in the state speech delivered in 2020. The Liberals claim that this will greatly help Canadians in this era of inflation.

There was a demand for automatic tax filing by many experts so that vulnerable Canadians are not left out of any kind of benefits. Canadians are generally not required to file tax returns each year as long as they are not liable to someone, but the federal government is increasingly relying on the Canada Revenue Agency to provide canadians with income-based benefits.

These benefits include canada child benefit, canada housing benefit and temporary doubling of gst tax credit. In 2020, a report jointly prepared by Jennifer Robson, associate professor of political management at Carleton University, revealed that 10 to 12 percent of Canadians do not file their taxes at all.
