Ottawa: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Canada’s Indo-Pacific strategy will make special investments to strengthen the role of the Canadian armed forces in the region.
Trudeau is in Thailand to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum. It is worth mentioning that everyone’s attention was distracted from this forum due to the landing of the missile released by North Korea near japanese waters.
The United States convened a surprise meeting with Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. It was hosted by US Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trudeau told five of his colleagues that Canada would continue to play its role in the UN mission to oversee sanctions against North Korea. Meanwhile, speaking to reporters, Trudeau said the latest move by North Korea was reckless and that such an act should not happen again.
Before Trudeau went to meet with other leaders over north Korea’s move, he announced that Canada would spend $13.5 million to launch a team to build an energy partnership in Asia.
