Ottawa: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday announced new aid to Haiti in the Bahamas. Along with this, it was also promised to deploy navy ships for surveillance.
But Trudeau did not agree to his counterpart’s demand for military action. Trudeau was advised by some experts to crack down on foreign interference.
At a meeting with 20 Caribbean community leaders on Thursday, Trudeau said Canada would provide $12.3 million in humanitarian assistance for the country in crisis.
“We can provide this kind of help to alleviate the suffering of the people of Haitian to some extent, but they have to work for themselves to shape their own future,” Trudeau said.
He said that in the next few weeks, some ships of the Royal Canadian Navy will be deployed off the coast of Haiti to obtain intelligence.
